Illinois Fire Service Institute Library, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, abides by the Illinois Library Records Confidentiality Act, P.A. 83-179, effective January 1, 1984, which states: "The registration and circulation records of a library are confidential information. Except pursuant to a court order, no person shall publish or make any information contained in such records available to the public." The library does not make available the records of patron transactions and lists of registered library patrons to any party except in compliance with Illinois and federal statutes.

Any requests from law enforcement authorities or by court order for the identity of anyone conducting research on a particular subject should be forwarded and handled by the Fire Service Institute Director.
