Lending Policy

FSI faculty and staff use of the library materials is a first priority, but items can be loaned through interlibrary loan delivery at an Illinois local library or can be requested directly from the IFSI Library.

Loan Period

There is a limitation of maximum six (6) items for a patron or borrowing library. A 4-week loan period is for all the library materials except designated reference materials. A special loan period may be arranged due to a longer than 4-week training program.

Fee Statement

The Library does not charge any photocopy fee to users in Illinois. The Library will fax fewer than 10 pages of articles for a rush request.

The patron or borrowing library is responsible for express mail delivery charge if they want the IFSI Library to meet their rush and urgent time frame. An invoice will be sent to the patron or borrowing library after service is provided.

IFSI Library Overdue Policy

The IFSI Library issues overdue notices as a courtesy to all library users on a regular basis. To avoid overdue notices, please return or renew all materials before the due date stamped on the item. An item may be renewed 2 times. Renewing an item is not possible when another borrower has requested that item.

Overdue notices: A reminder notice will be issued on an item's due date. A first overdue notice is issued about 15 days after an item's due date. If an item is not returned after the original notice, a second overdue notice will be issued about 30 days after the original due date.

If you have questions about an overdue notice, contact the IFSI Library at 1-800-437-5819 or e-mail: fsi@library.uiuc.edu.

Out-of-State and International Services

In general, the Library does not provide services to out-of-state and international organizations, except inFIRE due to membership requirement.

IFSI Archives:

Materials in the IFSI Archives do not circulate, but patrons are welcome to use these resources in the IFSI Library.  A majority of the archival collection is open to the general public for research, but the archivist may deny access to certain restricted administrative records.  Public patrons are required to complete a registration and use form before they can access archival materials.
