The Library services and resources are for IFSI faculty, staff, field instructors, students, fire departments and all firefighters in Illinois. Assistance is also provided to other governmental agencies, research bodies, and the general public.

The pursuit of service excellence requires the ongoing commitment and dedication of the IFSI Library staff. This is truly a collaborative effort that recognizes the need for continuous improvement, innovation and experimentation on behalf of our users, internal as well as external. Evaluation of our service provision will be done regularly. The IFSI Library Committee and the library user community will be informed regularly on our progress. The library users, internal and external, is entitled to easily accessible library collections in a safe, clean, organized, and appropriate environment staffed with friendly, courteous people. Each of the library users is to be welcomed, fairly and courteously, without discrimination with helpful attention. Service to the library users take precedence over the library's internal work and internal communications. Information given to the library users will be based on verifiable, current sources, clearly communicated, and given in a timely manner.
